WebAug 21, 2011 · To seat the seal back in take a piece of 1 1/2 inch pvc pipe about six inches long, cut it length wise then clamp to the upper fork. Slide the lower on make sure the dust seal clip etc is on above the pvc pipe. Use the pvc as a slide hammer to seat the seal. Then I slide the tubes back up onto the fork tubes and bolt back on. This creates air pressure up inside the forks which needs to be bled off at the top.

WebJan 12, 2024 · Use an appropriate sized piece of PVC pipe as a seal driver, with the original seals (upside down) on top of the new seals as a driver buffer. Bushings don't wear out from age, they wear out from use. So depending on the mileage, and how often the fork oil was changed, the existing bushings may still be fine.
